Moving Through Business Challenges

As a stay-at-home-mom AND a work-from-home-mom, I totally get the challenges of each of those worlds and how they function on a day-to-day basis. Jonnathan and I often chat about the challenges of business, each of us facing some of the same ones and sometimes challenges that literally feel like total opposites. Regardless, I love that this article focuses on three areas to help you move through business challenges. Today, I'm focusing on the first step!

My first thought, is how "glamorous" many people think my job(s) are. Juggling Ira & Lucy Event Design & Vintage Rentals, Wight House Creative and being a mom can have it's very challenging moments. I giggle that many think my life is like this picture. Nope, hardly ever. I function in a much more realistic nature. My hair is often tossed up, no makeup, dishes are stacked in the sink and Jagger is running around in just a diaper... and sometimes I don't brush my teeth til afternoon and I do get caught in the awful cycle of "success comparison" and feeling so behind and envious (we'll talk more about this a different day).

Other days, I get up early, I get ready for the day, have meals planned out, have activities organized for Jagger, emails answered by 11am, a to-do list checked off by 2pm, a trip to the gym with Jonnathan and Jagger and boy do I feel successful! Here's the thing. Not every day feels that awesome, and some days are actually quit overwhelming, but I love the 1st step form the article - VALIDATE YOURSELF! It's so easy to feel down, feel not enough, feel discouraged and be waaay stressed out. Remember to tell yourself that you are doing a great job! Remember to step back and look at the big picture. Maybe today or even this week, didn't go great, but what about the week before? I do believe in the power of a positive and gracious attitude! I often find, if I step back and focus on the positive and how blessed our family is with the success of our businesses. While, there is a pile of laundry to fold, I have no clue what to make for dinner and.... our dog just threw up... I'm okay! I'm doing a good job and I'm going to continue to do a good job!
